Your role as a finance assistant will be to assist accountants and business owners in collecting, checking and analysing financial information on their behalf. You will start work in a support role within a firm of accountants or in the accounts or finance departments of any organisations in industry. In a larger organisation you are liable to be working with members of the chartered accountancy bodies, while in smaller organisations you may be the only financially trained member of staff.

 

Once you have developed confidence and with experience you will consider many routes including further membership of professional representative bodies.  You may also consider self-employed providing a variety of accountancy and taxation services to a range of small to medium size businesses.

 

The Boring Bits

 

The Pitman Training Accounting Technician Diploma will give you the skills you need to become an excellent finance professional. Not only does it covers primary book-keeping disciplines, including PAYE, but also computerised accounting and payroll systems. All your skills will be as necessary for small and large companies.  They are also transferable from one employer to another and will be the starting point for a rewarding career in financial accounting.

 

Your successful completion of the ‘Book-keeping Level 2 - A Study Guide’ course will give you the eligibility to take the IAB Certificate in Book-keeping examination.
